On this tour, we will visit the essential herping locations in southern Japan, including Amami Ōshima and northern Okinawa (Yambaru National Park). We will also explore other remarkable sites, such as southern Okinawa, Kume Island, Tonaki Island, Iheya Island, Tokunoshima, and Tokashiki Island—remote areas that even most Japanese people have never visited, home to many endemic species.
Participants will have the chance to observe all Japanese species of Goniurosaurus (G. kuroiwae, G. toyamai, G. nebulozonatus, G. splendens, G. yamashinae, G. sengokui, G. orientalis), as well as local populations of Habu (Protobothrops flavoviridis), Okinawa and Amami Ishikawa frogs, and many other rare reptiles and amphibians.
