Highlights①

In Maroantsetra — an isolated region often described as a land island within Madagascar — we will explore its unique wildlife. Domestic flights operate only once every one to two weeks, and ferries run at most once a week when sea conditions allow. With frequent rainfall throughout the year and an ecosystem completely distinct from the rest of the country, this area is truly a treasure trove of Madagascar’s rarest species.

Highlights②

With the necessary permits obtained, we will stay on nearby uninhabited islands and peninsulas accessible only by boat. Accommodation will be in tents or simple structures, but nighttime observation is possible, allowing you to see the famous aye-aye and a variety of colorful nocturnal species.

Camp on uninhabited islands with the required permits.
No feeding is involved. Guests will have the opportunity to observe wild aye-ayes in their natural habitat.
Tents, blankets, and mattresses will be provided on site. Participants only need to bring sleeping bags or pillows if desired.
The aye-aye is famous, but observing it is not easy.
Highlights③

Maroantsetra, often called a ‘land island’ within Madagascar for its unique culture, offers a truly distinctive experience. With the cooperation of local villagers, we will also have the opportunity to observe wildlife inhabiting their backyards.

Day geckos visit town bakeries to lick sugar.
In the backyard, you can find bright red Tomato Frogs.
Bananas and motorcycles will be transported by boat
We will also search for the Lowland streaked Tenrec in villagers’ backyards.
